The free-form art group VEDELIK (Est.1995) consists of both professional and amateur artists. The membership is fluid and diverse. A member of VEDELIK is anyone who has an inner urge and desire to follow the group. Each member has their own style and approach to art. The exhibitions organized by the group create a narrative where the voice of each creator can freely sound under a single title.
VEDELIK's range of activities is diverse, from publishing magazines, periodic exhibitions, performing arts, social events, participating in trivia quizzes to organizing group visits, for example, to older well-known artists.
This "VEDELIKU JÕED" (LIQUID RIVERS) is an exhibition of the sentiment conveyed by Ben Aaronovitch's book "London Rivers".
A fantasy-filled world with river spirits, vampires, wizards and strange creatures. Mysticism, metaphysics and beautiful spirits inspire VEDELIK´s (Liquid) Flow. Urban fantasy as a unifying element in the exhibition at GÜ Gallery. Drawing is not just about creating an image from scratch, but about capturing an unknown flow. This flow does not obey logic, but unfolds like a river, its rapids and unexpected bends making it impossible to predict its movement. The movement where the river will eventually take you is not known in advance – that is the magic of flowing. The experience is purely sensual – drawing brings the hidden to light, opens the mind to dreaminess and ancient symbols, like a reminder of the time when man left the first traces on cave walls.
The river draws
strange pictures of itself
with a human face
reflecting Your actions
in the mirror
you only see yourself
(Borrowed from Margit Peterson)
