14:00-16:00: Open studio 16:00- 17:00: Artist talk moderated by curator Corina L. Apostol 18:00-19:20 Screening of Donna Haraway’s “Story Telling for Earthly Survival” (2016) 20:00-21:30: Silent Session Soundscapes: Digital Compost

Digital composting is a term the artists use to describe digital waste and recycling digital matter, and the ways in which to deal with narration when thinking about the future. Composting means taking matter back to its initial materials, so it could be re-introduced in the cycle of matter and energy. The artists treat digital matter in a similar way to re-conduct it back to usage or recycle it to give birth to new digital matter. The first principle of digital recycling is to produce less digital matter. If this cannot be done, then reusing digital matter would be preferable.

During their residency, the artists visited areas in Estonia that are connected to excavation, exhaustion and/or abandonment (North East and South East Estonia). This research will be developed in a future collaborative work entitled “Laboratory of the Future,” where digital and analogical materials will be meeting and recycled into an installative immersive work. How to tell the story of the future so it would compost the present?
