Elin Kjøsnes: I explore the fragile tension between the inner and the outer. The works arise from a need to reflect on relationships, expectations, and silence, but also on the search for safety and rest.
I work with printmaking as an expanded space for experimentation, allowing the materials to shape the expression. I am particularly fascinated by the structures of wood; the patterns in pine become metaphors for the traces we leave in one another.
The exhibition includes graphic works, an artist book, and two small wooden sculptures. Some of the works are presented in pairs, as mirrors or opposites. This creates a visual language that points to duality: being inside and outside at the same time, longing to be seen while also wishing to hide.
The exhibition invites reflection on one’s own spaces – spaces for silence, rest, and presence.
Elin Kjøsnes – Artist Statement
I am a visual artist based in Stavanger, Norway, working with drawing, printmaking and objects. My projects explore interpersonal relationships – how we influence and affect one another, both subtly and directly.
Nature is a continuous source of inspiration. I use visual elements and processes from nature as metaphors for human encounters and identity. By experimenting with different types of wood and printmaking methods, I investigate how the material itself can convey presence, vulnerability, and connection.
Intuition and technique are central to my process. I rarely work in editions, allowing each piece to develop organically. My aim is to open a space for reflection – an invitation to consider relationships, both with ourselves and with others.
I hold a BA in Arts with Honor from Kent Institute of Art and Design, London.
